Inspired by the events surrounding Lucier's 90th birthday, I thought I'd give this one a shot. I've performed a lot of Lucier's work over the years, but never got around to trying this out, so what better time than now?

I recorded these realizations in my practice space, which currently has two drum kits set up in there. At times, the sounds bring me back to the resonating percussion instruments "Music for Solo Performer" - a piece I performed a few times with John Mallia back in 2013.

The two versions included have only minor tweaks to microphone placement within the room, but ultimately took very different shape as the piece progressed. I couldn't decide between the two, so here are both of them.

Signal flow:

Original vocal recording - Electro-Voice PL-20 into "left" input of an Electro-Harmonix 95000.
Loop recording - Output of 95000 into a GK400rb bass head into a 1x15 cabinet, which was then mic'ed with a Beyerdynamic M88.
Room recording - Audio-Technica AT4047MP in "omni" mode into a Focusrite Scarlett interface.
