about

If you take a vinyl record and hold it above a flame or some sort of source of heat (like a gas stovetop), it will heat up and become fairly malleable. When this happens, you can shape the record however you want.

The vinyl records that are melted for tonight’s performance were extras overrun from the Shikata Ga Nai LP I released last year. Rather than performing the guitar quartet again, I thought it’d be more interesting to take the tangible result of that work and try to manipulate it in a way where neither myself, nor the performers, would know/can predict how it will sound. The performance ends whenever the performer feels satisfied with the work OR whenever the record stops playing.
